Kanu often uses pastel colors, showing his uncanny sense of setting, his power of observation and imagination. The size of the subjects, distances and spaces between them are realistically portrayed. Changing tracks and trading his brush for a knife, Kanu explores the mysterious 'Yin', the female principle in Chinese philosophy, with the Indian principle of Tattvas in the 'Zing and Zap of Yin' collection. Patel's oil paintings portray the harmony and affinity between Yin and the basic elements of the cosmos - earth, wind, fire, water and space.
